The IABCET history and mission are rooted in a single, enduring conviction: that quality in education, continuing education, and professional training matters — and that an independent, credible accreditation body plays an essential role in advancing and protecting that quality.
From its founding, IABCET has been driven by the belief that learners, employers, and the public deserve reliable assurance that the education and training programs they invest in genuinely meet defined standards of quality, integrity, and effectiveness.
IABCET History — Our Founding and Development
IABCET was established as an international, non-governmental accreditation body with a clear and focused purpose: to develop and maintain rigorous accreditation standards for educational institutions, training providers, and continuing education programs, and to provide independent accreditation recognition to those that meet them.
The IABCET history reflects the growing global recognition that quality assurance in education and training requires more than self-declaration. As the demand for credible, independent accreditation has grown — driven by the expansion of continuing education, professional development, and lifelong learning — IABCET has developed its standards, processes, and governance structures to meet that demand with rigor and integrity.
Throughout its history, IABCET has remained committed to three founding principles that continue to define its work today: quality, accountability, and continuous improvement.
IABCET Mission
The IABCET mission is to advance quality, accountability, and continuous improvement in education, continuing education, and training through the development and application of rigorous, internationally recognized accreditation standards.
In pursuit of this mission, IABCET:
- Develops and maintains accreditation standards that reflect international best practices in education, training, and quality assurance
- Evaluates and accredits institutions, programs, and continuing education providers that demonstrate genuine commitment to quality
- Recognizes and promotes excellence in education and training through credible, independent accreditation
- Supports continuous improvement by providing guidance, standards, and a structured accreditation framework that helps organizations build better programs over time
