IABCET Assessment & Evaluation — A Rigorous and Fair Review Process
IABCET assessment and evaluation is the independent, evidence-based review that sits at the heart of the IABCET accreditation process. It is the stage at which an applicant organization’s programs, policies, practices, and operations are examined in detail against the IABCET accreditation standards and criteria — and where the evidence for an accreditation decision is gathered and analyzed.
The IABCET assessment and evaluation process is designed to be rigorous, fair, consistent, and transparent. Every organization that undergoes IABCET assessment and evaluation is reviewed against the same standards, by qualified reviewers, using an evidence-based approach that prioritizes objectivity and integrity.
The Purpose of IABCET Assessment & Evaluation
The IABCET assessment and evaluation process serves several important purposes:
- To verify that the information provided in the accreditation application and self-study report accurately reflects the organization’s programs and operations
- To evaluate the organization’s programs, policies, and practices against the IABCET accreditation criteria in a structured and objective manner
- To identify strengths in the organization’s education and training programs that should be recognized and sustained
- To identify areas for improvement that the organization should address to meet or maintain IABCET accreditation standards
- To provide the evidence base upon which the IABCET Accreditation Committee makes its accreditation decision
How IABCET Assessment & Evaluation Works
The IABCET assessment and evaluation process consists of two complementary components — a document review and, where applicable, a site review. Together, these components provide a comprehensive picture of the organization’s programs and its alignment with IABCET accreditation standards.
Component 1 — Document Review
The IABCET assessment and evaluation process begins with a thorough review of all documentation submitted as part of the accreditation application. IABCET reviewers examine the organization’s self-study report, policies, procedures, curriculum materials, assessment records, quality assurance documentation, and any other evidence submitted in support of the application.
The document review evaluates the completeness, accuracy, and quality of the submitted evidence against each of the IABCET accreditation criteria. Reviewers look for clear, credible evidence that the organization meets the standards — not just stated intentions or policies, but demonstrated practice.
Component 2 — Site Review
Where required, the IABCET assessment and evaluation process includes a site review — either an in-person site visit or a structured virtual review. The site review allows IABCET reviewers to observe the organization’s programs and operations in practice, speak with leadership, instructors, and learners, and verify that the information provided in the application accurately reflects the organization’s real-world activities.
The site review is conducted by qualified IABCET reviewers following a structured protocol. It is not designed to be adversarial — it is a collaborative, professional review process aimed at gathering the evidence needed to make a fair and informed accreditation decision.
IABCET Assessment & Evaluation — What Reviewers Look For
During the IABCET assessment and evaluation process, reviewers evaluate the organization across all seven IABCET accreditation criteria areas:
- Organizational governance and management — Is the organization soundly governed and managed?
- Mission, goals and objectives — Are the mission and goals clearly defined and actively driving the organization?
- Curriculum design and program development — Are programs purposefully designed with clear learning outcomes?
- Instructional quality and delivery — Is instruction delivered by qualified staff using appropriate methods?
- Learner assessment and outcomes — Are learners assessed effectively and are outcomes tracked and used?
- Quality assurance and continuous improvement — Does the organization have a genuine culture of quality and improvement?
- Records, certification and CPE/CEU compliance — Are records accurate, certifications reliable, and CPE/CEU requirements met?
Assessment & Evaluation Findings
Following the completion of the IABCET assessment and evaluation, reviewers prepare a detailed findings report. This report documents the evidence reviewed, the reviewer’s assessment of the organization’s alignment with each of the IABCET accreditation criteria, identified strengths, and areas requiring improvement or further attention.
The findings report is submitted to the IABCET Accreditation Committee, which uses it as the primary basis for its accreditation decision. A copy of the findings report is also provided to the applicant organization, giving them a clear and detailed account of the assessment and evaluation outcome.
Responding to Assessment & Evaluation Findings
Where the IABCET assessment and evaluation identifies areas requiring improvement, the applicant organization is given the opportunity to respond to the findings before the final accreditation decision is made. This ensures that the accreditation decision is based on a complete and accurate picture of the organization’s programs and operations.
A Fair and Transparent Process
