The Principles Behind IABCET Committees and Governance
IABCET committees and governance are guided by four core principles:

IABCET Governance Structure
IABCET’s governance structure is organized to ensure clear separation between strategic leadership, accreditation decision-making, and operational management. The key components of the IABCET committees and governance structure are outlined below.
The IABCET Board
The IABCET Board provides strategic leadership and overall governance of the organization. The Board is responsible for setting IABCET’s strategic direction, approving policies, ensuring the financial sustainability of the organization, and overseeing the integrity of IABCET’s accreditation mission. The Board operates in accordance with IABCET’s governance policies and is accountable for the organization’s overall performance and direction.
The IABCET Accreditation Committee
The IABCET Accreditation Committee is the body responsible for making all formal accreditation decisions. Operating independently from IABCET’s operational management, the Accreditation Committee reviews assessment and evaluation findings, considers applicant responses, and determines accreditation outcomes in accordance with the IABCET accreditation standards and criteria.
Members of the IABCET Accreditation Committee are selected for their expertise and experience in education, training, accreditation, and quality assurance. All committee members are required to declare and manage conflicts of interest to protect the independence and integrity of accreditation decisions.
The IABCET Standards Committee
The IABCET Standards Committee is responsible for the ongoing development, review, and maintenance of IABCET’s accreditation standards and criteria. The Standards Committee ensures that IABCET accreditation standards remain current, rigorous, and reflective of international best practices in education, continuing education, and professional training.
The Standards Committee consults with stakeholders across the education and training sector — including accredited institutions, providers, learners, employers, and professional bodies — to ensure that IABCET standards continue to serve the genuine needs of the field.
The IABCET Appeals & Complaints Committee
The IABCET Appeals and Complaints Committee provides an independent mechanism for reviewing appeals against accreditation decisions and complaints about the conduct of the accreditation process. The Committee operates with full independence from the bodies that made the original decision, ensuring that appeals and complaints are handled fairly, consistently, and transparently.
Advisory Panels & Working Groups
In addition to its standing committees, IABCET convenes advisory panels and working groups as needed to address specific issues, develop new standards or guidelines, or provide specialist expertise in particular areas of education and training. These panels and groups draw on a broad network of professionals and experts from across the education, training, and accreditation sectors.
