Accreditation Decisions
IABCET accreditation decisions are based on applicable accreditation standards, eligibility requirements, criteria, documentation, assessment, and evaluation processes. The decision process provides a structured basis for determining whether an applicant demonstrates alignment with the requirements applicable to its accreditation category.
How Accreditation Decisions Are Made
Accreditation begins with an application and continues through the applicable review and evaluation stages. Applicants are expected to provide sufficient, accurate, current, and relevant evidence demonstrating compliance with the applicable IABCET requirements.
The applicable review process may include document review, assessment, evaluation, requests for clarification or additional evidence, and other activities appropriate to the accreditation category.
Key Stages of the Decision Process
01. Application
The organization or program submits an accreditation application and the required information and documentation.
02. Eligibility Review
The application is reviewed against the applicable eligibility requirements for the relevant accreditation category.
03. Documentation Review
Submitted documentation and evidence are examined against the applicable standards and accreditation criteria.
04. Assessment & Evaluation
The applicant is evaluated against the requirements applicable to its accreditation category.
05. Clarification & Additional Evidence
Where appropriate, additional information, clarification, or evidence may be requested during the review process.
06. Accreditation Decision
A decision is reached based on the applicable requirements, evaluation findings, and available evidence.
07. Notification
The applicant is informed of the applicable accreditation outcome and any associated requirements.
Possible Accreditation Outcomes
Depending on the applicable accreditation requirements and review findings, an application may result in accreditation being granted, a request for additional evidence or corrective action, deferral for further review, accreditation not being granted, or another outcome permitted under applicable IABCET procedures.
Accreditation Granted
Accreditation may be granted when the applicant has demonstrated compliance with the applicable requirements and the accreditation decision has been formally determined.
Additional Evidence or Corrective Action
Where additional information or corrective action is required, the applicant may be given an opportunity to provide requested evidence or address identified requirements in accordance with the applicable process.
Deferred or Further Review
Where a final decision cannot appropriately be made based on the information available, further review or additional documentation may be required.
Accreditation Not Granted
Accreditation may not be granted where an applicant does not demonstrate compliance with the applicable requirements. Applicants may have access to applicable review or appeal procedures where provided by IABCET policy.
Evidence-Based Evaluation
Accreditation decisions should be supported by relevant evidence. Depending on the accreditation category, evidence may include information concerning governance, curriculum, learning outcomes, faculty or instructors, educational resources, quality assurance, learner support, assessment, records, policies, and organizational practices.
Applicants are responsible for ensuring that submitted information is complete, accurate, current, and sufficiently documented to support the applicable accreditation requirements.
Accreditation Is Not Guaranteed by Payment
Important: Payment of an application, assessment, or accreditation fee does not by itself guarantee accreditation. Accreditation is subject to the applicable eligibility, review, assessment, evaluation, and decision-making processes.
Accreditation Status
Where applicable, accreditation status may be confirmed through the official IABCET accreditation directory and verification resources. Stakeholders should use official IABCET verification resources when confirming the current status of an accredited institution, program, training provider, or organization.
Accreditation status may change over time as a result of renewal, reaccreditation, suspension, withdrawal, expiration, or other applicable status changes.
Reaccreditation and Continuing Compliance
Accreditation is subject to the applicable accreditation period and continuing requirements. Accredited organizations and programs may be required to undergo reaccreditation or other review activities to maintain their accreditation status.
Appeals and Complaints
IABCET recognizes the importance of appropriate mechanisms for applicants and other stakeholders to raise concerns or seek review of applicable decisions. Where an appeal process applies, requests should be submitted according to the applicable IABCET procedures and timeframes.
