Our Commitment to Ethical Practice
Ethics and integrity are fundamental to responsible accreditation. IABCET seeks to ensure that accreditation activities are conducted consistently, objectively, transparently, and in accordance with applicable standards, criteria, procedures, and governance principles.
IABCET expects individuals involved in accreditation activities to act professionally and to avoid conduct that could compromise the fairness, independence, or credibility of an accreditation review or decision.
Integrity
Accreditation activities should be conducted honestly, responsibly, professionally, and in good faith.
Impartiality
Reviews and decisions should be based on relevant evidence and established requirements rather than personal interests or external pressure.
Fairness
Organizations and applicants should be treated consistently and given appropriate opportunities to provide relevant information.
Accountability
Accreditation activities should be subject to appropriate governance, oversight, review, and responsible decision-making.
Confidentiality
Information obtained through accreditation activities should be handled responsibly and appropriately.
Professional Conduct
Individuals participating in accreditation activities should maintain professional, respectful, and responsible behavior.
Transparency
Public information about accreditation requirements, processes, and expectations should be communicated clearly and responsibly.
Professional Conduct
Individuals involved in IABCET accreditation activities should conduct themselves in a manner that protects the credibility of the accreditation process. This includes providing accurate information, maintaining professional relationships, respecting confidentiality, and avoiding actions that could improperly influence an accreditation review or decision.
Impartiality and Independence
Accreditation decisions should be based on applicable requirements and evidence rather than personal, financial, organizational, or other interests. Potential conflicts of interest should be identified and appropriately managed to protect the independence and integrity of accreditation activities.
Evidence-Based Accreditation
Ethical accreditation requires decisions to be supported by relevant information and evidence. IABCET accreditation activities are intended to evaluate organizations, programs, providers, and related activities against applicable accreditation requirements rather than guarantee a particular outcome.
Integrity Principle: Payment of an application or accreditation fee does not, by itself, guarantee accreditation or a favorable accreditation decision. Accreditation outcomes are based on the applicable requirements, evidence, evaluation, and decision-making process.
Responsible Communication
IABCET expects information submitted during accreditation activities to be accurate, complete, and not misleading. Organizations and individuals should also communicate their accreditation status accurately and should not represent accreditation as government licensing, regulatory approval, or another form of official recognition unless such recognition has been independently established.
Confidentiality and Responsible Information Handling
Information received through accreditation activities may contain organizational, professional, or other sensitive information. Such information should be handled responsibly and used appropriately in connection with accreditation, evaluation, oversight, or other legitimate activities.
Ethical Concerns and Reporting
Concerns regarding possible unethical conduct, conflicts of interest, inaccurate information, improper influence, or other matters affecting the integrity of accreditation activities may be raised through the appropriate IABCET communication or review channels.
Where appropriate, concerns may be reviewed in accordance with applicable IABCET procedures, governance arrangements, complaints processes, and accreditation requirements.
