IABCET Appeals & Complaints

Information about appeals and complaints relating to IABCET accreditation processes, decisions, and related matters, subject to applicable policies and procedures.

IABCET Appeals & Complaints

IABCET is committed to supporting a fair, transparent, and consistent accreditation process. Appeals and complaints provide formal mechanisms for applicants, accredited organizations, and other eligible parties to raise concerns about an accreditation process, decision, or related matter.

Appeals and complaints are handled in accordance with the applicable IABCET policies and procedures. The appropriate process depends on the nature of the matter being raised.

Appeals

An appeal is a formal request to review an accreditation decision or other decision where an appeal mechanism is available under the applicable IABCET procedures.

An appeal should identify the decision being challenged, the grounds for the appeal, and the relevant evidence or documentation supporting the request.

Appeals are intended to provide an appropriate review mechanism while maintaining the integrity and independence of the accreditation process.

Complaints

A complaint is a formal expression of concern regarding an aspect of an IABCET process, service, conduct, or other matter within the organization’s responsibility.

Complaints should provide sufficient information to allow the matter to be understood and reviewed appropriately.

Where appropriate, IABCET may request additional information or supporting documentation before determining how a complaint should be handled.

Appeal or Complaint?

The distinction between an appeal and a complaint depends on the subject of the concern.

  • Appeal: generally concerns a decision for which a formal appeal process is available.
  • Complaint: generally concerns a process, conduct, service, or other matter requiring review.

Where it is unclear which procedure applies, the matter should be described clearly so that it can be directed to the appropriate process in accordance with applicable IABCET procedures.

Submitting an Appeal or Complaint

Submissions should be clear, factual, and sufficiently detailed to explain the issue being raised.

Depending on the applicable procedure, supporting information may include:

  • The name and contact information of the submitting party
  • The organization, program, or accreditation matter concerned
  • A description of the decision, process, or issue being raised
  • The relevant dates and circumstances
  • The specific grounds or reasons for the submission
  • Relevant supporting documentation or evidence
  • The outcome or action being requested, where applicable

Submissions should be made through the communication channel and within the timeframe specified by the applicable IABCET procedure.

Review of Appeals and Complaints

Appeals and complaints should be reviewed through an appropriate and documented process.

The review may consider the information submitted by the complainant or appellant, relevant accreditation records, applicable standards and criteria, and the policies and procedures governing the matter.

Additional information may be requested where necessary to support a fair and informed review.

Independence and Impartiality

Appeals and complaints should be handled with appropriate consideration of impartiality and conflicts of interest.

Individuals involved in reviewing a matter should not participate where their involvement would create an inappropriate conflict or compromise the integrity of the review, subject to the applicable IABCET policies and procedures.

Confidentiality

Information submitted as part of an appeal or complaint should be handled appropriately and in accordance with applicable IABCET policies, confidentiality requirements, and legal obligations.

Information may need to be shared with individuals responsible for reviewing or determining the matter where necessary for the process to be completed.

Outcome

Following review, the relevant outcome or determination is communicated in accordance with the applicable procedure.

Where appropriate, the outcome may identify any actions, further steps, or requirements arising from the review.

The handling of an appeal or complaint does not automatically suspend or change an accreditation decision unless the applicable IABCET procedure provides otherwise.

Good-Faith Submissions

Appeals and complaints should be submitted in good faith and should contain accurate information.

Individuals and organizations should avoid submitting knowingly false, misleading, abusive, or frivolous information. Such conduct may be addressed in accordance with applicable IABCET policies.
